2010: A year with investment results that exceeded expectations
"It is safe to say that 2010 was a good year hence the real growth over the inflation for the participants. If we turn over to other European pensions market, it is obvious that very few pension funds got positive results. In this context, the yields obtained by the Romanian funds are very good", declared Mihai SEITAN, former Labor Minister, within the XPRIMM Annual Forecast - Private Pensions 2011.
Mentionable is the fact that current favorable yields are also due to an optimum context - high government bonds yield and reduced exposure to instruments with higher volatility. "You might say that in this situation, the reduced development of the romanian capital market, usually considered a handicap, was now a contributing factor. For the future we must prepare ourselves to maintain the performance quality in more complex operating conditions", continued Mihai SEITAN.
Radu CRACIUN, Investments Manager, EUREKO Pensii, added that compared to projections made early last year, 2010 was a year with exceeding expectations results in terms of investment. "I believe that the best way to observe the results of the pension fund is to compare it to the mutual funds in Romania, that operate in the same economical environment as we. Very gladly, I notice that in such a comparison our results are remarkable", stressed Radu CRACIUN. The fact that 2010 was a good year with positive results is also the opinion of Anne - Marie MANCAS, Investment Manager, GENERALI Pensii, "2011 - 2012 might help recuperate what was lost in 2009 by freezing the contributions, if overall the economy rebounds".
