ING is the new market leader on the voluntary pensions market
ING Life Insurance has become at the end of last week the new market leader in voluntary private pensions (3rd pillar) by number of participants with 42,583 customers, surpassing ALLIANZ-TIRIAC Private Pensions (35,262) and BCR Life Insurance (24,656).
ING became market leader after striking a big corporate contract with the Romanian Postal Service, which decided to offer about 20,000 of its employees voluntary private pensions - and most of them chose ING.
Thus, the total number of participants in the Romanian voluntary pensions market slightly surpassed 110,000, double in comparison to 1st of January 2008. The market is now marching towards the 200,000-250,000 participants estimation made by market players and supervisory body (CSSPP) alike.
The new number of participants in the system surpassed 22,000 in June alone, making June the best month for voluntary pensions in the short history of the Romanian market.
