Largest employer in Romania already offers voluntary pensions to its employees
The Romanian postal service (POSTA ROMANA) became the largest employer
in Romania as of last year, data published today by the Ministry of
Economy and Finance showed. POSTA ROMANA has over 35,000 employees and
it surpassed PETROM, the country's largest company in terms of business
turnove, but who only employes 30,000 people. Also, POSTA ROMANA
already pays voluntary pension contributions on behalf of over
20,000 of its employees as of June, proving to be an example to all
major employers in Romania. Here is a ranking of the biggest employers in Romania:
The pension funds chosen by the postal service's employees are managed by ING (who got 14.000 new customers), ALLIANZ-TIRIAC (almost 5.000) and BCR (the rest to over 20.000 contracts). POSTA ROMANA only offered voluntary pensions to its employees with a 5 year history in the company - that is over 20,000 of its 35,000 workers.
Right now, the voluntary pensions market in Romania has 120,000 fund participants, who save in 9 pension funds and reached assets under management of about 15 EUR mln. Until the end of the year, the market will most likely consist of 12 funds, 200,000 participants and net assets under management of EUR 25 mln.
