The second contribution round could bring EUR 26.6 million to mandatory pension funds
The second contribution round to the mandatory pension funds (2nd pillar) could bring another EUR 26.6 million in their accounts, 10% more than the first round, according to some estimates the specialized web portal www.pensiileprivate.ro, based on data published today by the National Statistics Institute.
The second round will take place on June the 20th, and the average contribution would be at around EUR 8.25 (for April), compared to EUR 7.55 in the first round (for March). The estimate is based on a 8% wage growth in April as compared to March, up to EUR 480, and a reduction of about 15,000 empty account from the system (as compared to the total of over 961,000 empty accounts in the system after the first round of collection). Also, the arrears to be paid for the first month could also slightly increase the level of collected contribution in the second month.
Thus, after two rounds of collection, the 14 mandatory pension funds will have collected contributions of over EUR 50 million. Until the end of the year, the funds could reach assets under administration of over EUR 250 million, according to some market estimates.
